Happy Presidents Day All!
Today there is no writing tip, but I am going to catch you all up on some of the reading I have done in the past few weeks. Luckily, my new job has acquainted me with a lot of different types and genres of books. However, I wanted to complete the book I was reading before considering some of the new choices I have picked up from work.
I just completed reading Sea of Monsters, the second installment in the Percy Jackson series. It took me quite a while to get through despite its simplicity and length. Perhaps not all young adult books can translate over to all ages. That being said I still enjoyed the read but found myself not quite invested in the characters. For that, I have rated this book 3 Bookmarks, with a strong recommendation for a younger audience. It has a lot of action, intrigue, and twists, and the language is simple enough that it can be suitable for a fairly young audience. I think this series would be amazing for young readers looking to make their way into the fantasy genre.
The next book on the horizon, Death Comes to Pemberley, by P.D James. This book combines the romantic Victorian-age style with mystery. I have only just begun but already can see that James is setting us up for a very interesting murder mystery.
